Charlie Doves is an artist from NYC, famed for illustrating different urban styles. His work is characterized by various aspects of 80’s & 90’s pop culture such as cinema, poster and cover art, creatures, cartoons, blended with his own perspective and signature style.
Growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, he had a great amount of eclectic artistry around him,From the early street artist to the grimey graffiti. Charlie began his love for art through drawing cartoon characters such as The Ghostbusters which is still his inspiration throughout the years. This young artist's future began to take shape when the esteemed Dontay TC5, a pioneer in graffiti art, took notice and threw him under his wing for a short time and taught him the fundamentals of classic NYC graffiti. Charlie Doves career began to flourish as a airbrush artist as well he climbed up the ranks in the early 2000's, planting himself in some of the most acclaimed graffiti crews in history such as FC, COD, and TC5, along with the guidance of the hip hop collective of TCK (True City Kids).
Since then, Charlie Doves has nurtured his artistry by exploring the use of mixed media, prompting his debut in the gallery scene which has been his main objective for the last few years. He has accomplished 3 solo shows along the way while in pursuit of a bigger platform to showcase.
His commercial work includes illustrations, airbrush and aerosol pieces commissioned by clients such as PEPSI Cola, Def Jam Records, Supreme (Skating Brand), MTV Studios, Converse, Mass Appeal, RedBull, the Xmental Kids Program, and the Estria Graffiti Battles. His personal client list includes NBA star Baron Davis, Comedian Tracy Morgan, and Rap star Fat Joe among others. Having diverse skills and style, Charlie Doves is capable of morphing into any style required by clients which gives them a range to choose from his diverse palette.
